THE SUBTRACTION / T.O.M.B. & BLOOD RHYTHMS Reviewed at konkrit

Super thoughtful reviews of two recent releases by THE SUBTRACTION and the split between T.O.M.B. and BLOOD RHYTHMS

"Land Of Decay sets only - albeit very good example - for a return to the cassette as a medium, the almost intimate relationship between the label operators and their acts, the lavishly produced artwork represents (the visual artist Hannum shall also your hands on), and Although the unabgegrenzte, but certain aesthetic similarities of musical direction make it a standout, stubborn label. The next tape have already been announced and I am very excited to go on as it is." konkrit

PREVIEW: Oko "Mouth of River" from 5730±40

Pleased to present a track from forthcoming LAND OF DECAY artists OKO.

"Mouth of River" from their cassette 5730±40

OKO merges sound, body centered performance and video to talk about humanity in relation to the natural world. Performance, sound, video and installation individually are not enough to convey the troubled relationship humans have to nature. Alone these media have limited power, but combined, they can become a force that envelops the viewer within the performance. OKO is an attempt to create an enveloping environment of sound, sight and body. The voice tears out of the performer's mouth, the muscles spasm and contort. The video penetrates the eyes of the audience the sound stuns them. The viewer is pried open by the stimuli, they have no choice but to be receptive.

OKO begins as a low rumble in near darkness. The two performers begin to improvise, using sound building blocks and voice to create an uneasy soundscape. The video projections of mountain and forest scenes gradually become brighter, the space is filled with smoke and the smell of burning leaves. As the performance progresses, the sound’s grip on the bodies of the performers strengthens, throwing them around like puppets. At the crescendo the performance breaks and opens to whiteness and stillness. The space is filled with a bright light and a low hum.

HEATHEN HARVEST: Kapustin Yar - "Trithemius" CS Reviewed

Enter experimental musician Antonio Gallucci, known otherwise for his work in Architeuthis Rex (Utech Records), whom has drawn on both the mystery and aberrance of this location, as well as the bleakness and violence of the time period for inspiration within this project.  Further darkening the idea around the release is the album’s specific subject, the influential 15th-16th century German occultist and skilled cryptographer Johannes Trithemius, whose legacy has been the Steganographia.
